Media research. (bullying poster)

Image
This poster is aimed at people who have been verbally bullied. The main message of this poster is that there are ways to get help and you shouldn't do it on your own. In the poster you can see the person using a gun to kill themselves to get away from the bullying. We know he has been verbally bullied because of all the words coming out of his head. The poster has given the words a double meaning. They are all the words he had been called escaping his head and it's also the blood from the gun being fired. The message of the poster is to talk to people. Don't keep it to yourself. The codes and conventions of the poster are that the person being bullied keeps it to themselves and not seek help. Another convention is that people usually self harm or try to take their lives as a result of bullying. The poster communicates through the words coming out of his head. we see all the names he's been called. The poster also uses colour to communicate. The person who is being b...

These are the results from a questionnaire I created. The questionnaire was answered by students anonymously. From this research i can see that 50% of the people who had been bullied were male. The most common type of bullying is verbal bullying. 50% of the people bullied sorted the situation out themselves and the other 50% said other. If someone were to be bullied 83% said they would sort it out themself and 17% said they would tell a friend or a teacher. The most common ages for being bullied are 10-14. And 50% of the people questioned were bullied.

One website I have found is Kidscape. Kidscape wants children to grow up in a world without bullying and harm, with adults who can keep them safe and help them reach their full potential. Their mission is to to provide children, families, carers and professionals with training, practical tools and advice to prevent bullying and protect young lives. They do this through: Giving advice  Delivering training  Working directly with children, parents, carers and professionals Raising awareness  Kidscape has a large reach across the UK. Kidscapes main target audience is children. However they also help train adults on how to protect children.  The main messages of the site are that children need help and how to help them with bullying. Their motto is "Preventing Bullying, Protecting Lives"  Kidscape has workshops that they put on to support children and show them the effects of bullying. They also work closely with schools. Initial ideas

My initial ideas for a poster/posters showing the different types of bullying. If i only do one poster it will be split 3 ways to show verbal, cyber and physical bullying. My ideas for a moving image i will make a short clip showing a group of people bullying someone. The person being bullied will be male and he will be bullied by females challenging the stereotype that males are bullies. The boy will be bullied and called  names. He won't try to get help he'll just keep it to himself. He will try to kill himself but his mum/friends will stop him and help him with the bullies. For a website i would have a tab where you can get help if you are being bullied, a games page, information about bullying, how you can help people who are getting bullied and a section where you can talk to someone privately over the internet or you can phone up
